My name is Shelly Coe and I love living the country life.

I was born in Vancouver, BC and moved to Kelowna, BC before I was 10.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the big city and Vancouver will always have a special place in my heart but I love visiting it more than I would living there.  Growing up I spent a lot of time in Alberta on the farm.  My grandparents as well as aunts and uncles all lived on farms and that is where I fell in love with it.  Riding horses, feeding chickens and pigs, picking mushrooms for dinner and having the room to run free and roam.

I finally was able to fulfill my dream of living on an acreage when I was 28 and my daughter was almost 2.  From the very day we purchased the 5-acre parcel, I began looking for information on raising animals.  I can honestly say I have entire library of books on sheep, donkeys, chickens, pigs, gardening, preserving food, barns, etc.

It is my goal to bring all of the information that I have learned over the years to this blog.  A one-stop learning center if you will.  I have much to offer and want to teach all that I know as well as take the journey with others who love rural living as much as I do.  If I can help just a few people enjoy that same lifestyle then my job will be worth every minute.

Enjoy!

I have a poem that I have written about living the simple life, but also being smart about the world. It’s a reflection for all of us who have given up mainstream for our dream. Do you ever publish things that readers have written? If you would be interested please let me know. Thanks!
